Picture of the week 06.18.07
Grilling Oil, 12" x 8 "
He would've approved of the likeness...and then, the instant I turned away,
rolled his eyes about the oh-so-arty technique and composition. He would've been right
to do that, too. But the important thing is, he would've kept it to himself. He was a much
cooler person than I will ever be.
From forty-six years ago, here is his take on the same subject:
Self-Portait with Hobos Ink, 6" x 6"
Pretty good brushwork for a right-handed guy, you know?
The title is mine. I'm sure he would've come up with something better; he is, after all,
the fellow who told me "You can lead a horse to drink, but you can't make him water,"
and the inventor of The Sentence That Ends In Five Prepositions:
"What did you bring that book that I didn't want to be read to out of up for?"
Hope you all had a good Father's Day, too.
